Occupy Ottawa General Assembly Minutes April 1st

The Assembly recognizes that this meeting is being held on unceded Algonquin land.

Committee Announcements

Labour Outreach: May 1st organizing committee is organizing for activities on May Day. The committee is meeting Wednesday April 4th at 7pm, McNabb Community Centre, 180 Percy St.

Political Action: Taking part in protests every Sunday on parliament hill at noon against electoral fraud.

Direct Action and Mobilizations: The homelessness campaign was passed at the last GA. Next DAM meeting may be Tuesday at 6pm.

A visit to the available office space at Under One Roof went well. A discussion about the space will take place at the end of the GA.

Media: Media is working on getting the website up and running. Obert was interviewed on CKCU at length.

FB Mods: Safer Spaces Policy guidelines are being worked on.

Occu-Conference (Take Back Democracy): Next meeting today at Ben’s place at 7pm.

Indigenous Solidarity: Presentation on “Occupy Talks” went well. People are encouraged to join the committee.

Anti-Oppression training on April 15th.

There are concerns about a group known as “Occupy Ottawa Gardens”

Safety: Working on procedures and wants to pass every point through a future GA.

A discussion on quorum, on which a motion was passed at the last GA, ensued

There was a coconut incident at 3:18pm.

Individual Announcements

There are solidarity hunger strikes for Obert taking place soon (noon Friday to noon Saturday). There will a series of five protests, each focused on one of Obert’s demands.

The GA adjourned at 3:30pm.

A discussion on the potential use of an office space at Under One Roof took place.
