Canadian National Occupy Website

Forums:

I'm not sure who is behind this or when it will be up but a working group is launching a national website where people will be able to vote on issues, so that they can be nationally sanctioned.

I think its a good idea, similar to what the Americans are doing with on-line voting.  Can anyone who is working on this contribute more information?

Canadian National Occupy Website

I was hoping for something like this. Don't forget that a main purpose of the Occupy Movement world-wide is networking/interactive "parliamentarianism" at the intenational grass-roots level. There are common issues for us all eg.,: health care, jobs, jobs jobs at decent wages world-wide, competing with low-wage areas, public transit and fair-wage manufacturing of transit equipment, electricity supply, control over a country's natural resources, policing a brutal/corrupt police force, how much free education, fair taxation and implementing rigorous tax collection, the central bank and money creation, a country's military, sovereignty of nations (foreign control etc.), and indigenous peoples' rights and how they are paid for, just to name a few. I almost forgot: environmental management.

Online Voting

Online voting is a great idea but I think more difficult than most assume. Stopping multiple voting is near impossible but required for the results to be used for consensus voting. The only way to ensure single votes would be with an https connection and registration using something like social insurance numbers, health cards or drivers licences. Integration of such a site into Service Canada might be the only way at this time. The following is a new site for voting on Bills which I love. It will reflect the popular vote and effectively show the disconnected between the 99% and our government. http://democratize.ca
