Canada is the third largest producer of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in the world. As the cultivation of GMO crops intensifies and expands, ecological risks are emerging, such as superweeds, pest resistance, and adverse effects on non-target organisms. GMO animals such as fish are also being developed, raising additional concerns about potential environmental risks. As yet, there is little information available on the potential adverse effects of GMOs on aquatic ecosystems.
The new Omnibus crime bill is an extensive reformation of legislature that can be used much like Bush's patriot act. You must only read the table of contents to see where harper conservatives are taking this. This bill can see people who use marijuana jailed for years and people who protest branded as terrorists. Make no mistake this bill targets young people in a way that will see people jailed for political beliefs and personal choice. This bill makes no sense recent polls in Canada show that 66% of Canadians smoke pot or have smoked pot and want it decriminalized.
Canada is at grave risk. Do not let the harper conservatives mislead you with hopes of a strong economic Canada. This is not their intention. Canada has seen its violent crime dip over the last 5 years and yet we are building super jails... These are not to house violent criminals. Granted jail is where you go if you break the law but I believe these jails will have a much more nefarious purporse. I am going to come right out and say it, these jails are being made to house the brave Canadians who protest the coming tyranny.
