Can someone give me and others information about the Occupied Philosophers General Meeting Saturday evening at Dominion College, please? What is to be discussed? Do we know who the philosophers are? I'm interested in a serious discussion about the politics, goals and philosophy of the Occupy movement in Canada. Thanks.
Over the past decades, I have seen my salary purchasing power keep going lower and lower as inflation just keeps going up. In the early nineties my salary was frozen at zero yearly increase for a few years, and more recently all I saw was a 1% to 1.25%, meanwhile the trye inflation is always around 6 to 7%. Do not believe the governments claim that it is any less. The inflation rate of some items even go a lot up more such as gaz, oil, and food. So what are we supposed to do in a country such as Canada. Stop heating our homes, and not eat.
The 99% crowd is clearly the majority of the people in our democracy. Even the 80% is the majority here in Canada. Yet we don’t understand what’s going on in our social and economic systems enough to make goals for these systems. We rely on our elected officials to make goals in our interest, however with the bottom 80% of Canadians getting by on 25% of this country’s wealth, our elected officials are not capable of really managing in our interest.
